He crushed her heart!?

My friend lets call her jess likes a guy a year older lets call him bob. Well jess started chatting with bob and said "Hey" all he said was "gtg" and left. Then at a dance last night bob came up to jess and said "Hey guys this is the ******* retard that was talking to me earlier" and jess ran away and cried for 1/4 of the dance. i couldnt do anything bc i wasnt there but she told her "friends" and they didnt care. She told me this in text and i need a way to cheer her up. Ideas?
